My Journey with Inflammation
I have spent the last 15 years naturally reducing inflammation my body. Why? Major back pain, major digestive issues and situational anxiety over “not being able to work out anymore.” During the worst part of this, I was unable to get off the couch, without making my pain worse. I kept visualizing my future and what it would be like without doing anything fun ever again. Exercise was always a huge part of my life and a great way for me to relieve stress. I dreaded the thought of being in chronic pain forever. This led me to focus on all of the things I couldn’t do and I became more anxious which led to more back pain. Instead of thinking about the things I could do now, I only thought about the things I couldn’t do now. I wasn’t able to help myself and I didn’t want to ask for help. I felt alone. From the time I was 5 years old, I was a gymnast. I competed through the time I was a senior in high school. In college I transitioned from practicing gymnastics, to loving high impact aerobics. In my 20’s I studied and practiced Tae Kwon Do up to competing at black belt level. All the while continuing running, rollerblading, waterskiing, downhill skiing, etc.
As I thought about all of these activities that I was able to do up until then, I kept thinking about what my life was going to be like without all of those fun things, and I didn’t want that to be my future. I was grieving the loss of my future before I even lived it. I didn’t stay in that mindset very long though, and continued to go to the gym even though I couldn’t do very much. I got certified as a Les Mills Body Balance Instructor and Yoga Instructor. Body Balance is a fitness program through Les Mills which is a combination of Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi combined to music. As I changed the way I worked out, my physical and emotional well being improved. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was redefining what health and wellness actually meant for me.
“I started to believe that if I kept taking small steps towards better health and wellness, I stopped going to the worst-case scenario in my mind.”
I have come a long way since not being able to get off the couch. I did this without having back surgery or taking prescription meds for pain. I found chiropractic care. I am a certified life coach through The Life Coach School. I am coaching people that want to find ways to naturally reduce inflammation in their body and reduce overwhelm in their mind.
If you are ready to learn how to do this for yourself, I would love to work with you. Whether you have back pain or not, if you simply want to feel better about your life, I can help you. I have learned so much through the 1:1 coaching process and I am so excited to share it with you so that you can experience amazing results like I did. One “strategic byproduct” of coaching with me is you will lose 5-10 pounds as I am trained in weight loss coaching as well. This just happens organically as we coach together. It is easy.
